Children & Adolescents
Parent/Carer:
As a parent/carer you may experience a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings that leave you feeling angry, helpless and disconnected from your child and no matter what you try to convey to your child, the message doesn't get through. Such a situation can leave you and your child feeling stressed, fearful and angry, and your relationship fragmented.
The transition from childhood to adulthood can be a difficult time, and often social media can add another layer of negativity, self-doubt, loss of self-esteem and confidence and pressure on a young person's mental and emotional wellbeing.
Psychotherapy and Counselling offers a safe and confidential space for your child to begin to express all their fears, anxieties and stresses, about being a young person in today’s complex world, which often fails to see and understand the plight of young people.
Young Person:
Do you feel misunderstood and alone in the world? No matter what you say, or don’t say, you are not heard or seen, or you’re not able to find the words to express what you really want to say? Are people taking advantage of your kind, caring nature? Are people around you projecting their insecurities and negativity onto you? Are you being bullied? Are you holding onto and experiencing trauma due to family dynamics, separation or a bereavement?
Counselling and Psychotherapy offers you a safe and confidential space away from your family and friends to explore where you are at and also to support you to find out who you are and how you would like others to see you in your authenticity.

Initial meeting/assessment:
During the initial assessment, I will meet with the child/ young person and parent/carer, together if requested and then individually depending on the situation and what is required and preferred by the child/young person and parent. Together they will look at what has brought the client to counselling and psychotherapy, exploring the client’s hopes and aims of therapy and answering any questions that arise.
Please note, if a client is under 16, Gary will need the consent of parent/carer for therapy to begin.
